Mass Direct Action Planned for N20: No Borders No Occupations No Fences With the goal in mind to stop the FTAA. ad create a world of liberation, sanctions have been planned for early morning , Thursday, November 20. This action is the manifestation of consensus decisions made at the 12 consultas and Conference Calls over the past six months. A proposal was first drafted and consensed upon at the Gainesville consulta on November 12. Presented at the first two Spokescouncils at the Welcome Center, this plan calls for a prompt meeting at 7am in the park at Miami's Government Center (metro and bus stop). There will be quick solidarity statements given by allies of the DA movements and a Puppet Pagent presented by the Free Carnival Area of the Americas. The puppets will then lead folks in a march to the fence to reclaim the space and manifest visions of liberation. There will be an attempt to hold this space as long as possible, providing a space for autonomous actions. Some plan to hold the space in a festive atmosphere, while others plan to take down the fence. Additional calls for reconvergence throughout the day have been made, including a 5pm reconvergence at 3rd and Biscayne. Government Center was chosen as the meet up spot because it is the only point close to the fence suitable for a large gathering that did not interfere with the permitted march and ralley. A central gathering location was decided on to combat the fear of indivuals being arrested en route to the fence. However, please take into account while marching that this area is surrounded by small, independent, largely Latin busineses. While doing outreach in this area, it has been discovered that most of these folks understand that the FTAA will hurt their business and support the protesters being here, and it is important that respect is shown in return. This 7am action is only one option for direct action. The plan calls for solidarity with autonomous actions happening simultaneously or at other times throughout the day. Coordination among affinity groups and clusters is strongly encouraged. Everyone should come prepared with materials necessary to create their vision of a beautiful world in which threats such as the FTAA no longer exist.
