12/28/2003 Darren Christensen, an undercover Arapahoe County Sheriff infiltrated five anti-war protesters and got them arrested last April. Here's how he did it according to the Rocky Mountain News. Calling himself "Chris Taylor," he attended a training session in nonviolence with the other protesters the day before the sit-in, as well as the protest itself at U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard's Arapahoe County office. "That's a really scary thing," said retired art teacher Bonnie McCormick, who was arrested that day. Read here how law enforcement agencies spy on protest groups. Police justification goes as follows: "Who's to say that a member of a very violent faction joins this organization and starts to preach violent protest and-or turns it into a violent protest while it's going on?" -- Sgt. Tim O'Brien. My personal opinion? One did. His name is Darren Christansen and he called himself "Chris Taylor." If you read no other book this year, get Brian Glick's "War At Home." It lays out how c0int3lpro tactics are being reused in your town "right here, right now." |
